Lovely Wallpapers is an experimental noise music performance by Giuseppe Torre. First presented at Music on Tap in Limerick, Ireland (March 21, 2019), the piece explores chaotic soundscapes through free improvisation. It delves into the aesthetics of noise, challenging conventional musical structures and inviting the audience into a dense and immersive sonic experience.
The performance makes use of a custom setup built around the Freesound.org archive and real-time manipulation via a Wacom tablet interface. Sounds are selected, processed, and morphed live, with gestures controlling the navigation of a dynamic sonic map. This approach—developed and applied across various artistic contexts—enables a gestural and improvisatory exploration of noise that emphasizes unpredictability, interaction, and the physicality of performance.
