Performance Overview

Mayday originated as an acoustic composition before undergoing a process of modulation and transformation into an acousmatic, quasi-psychedelic audio-visual work. The compositional strategy involved sequencing and manipulating diverse acoustic sources in ways that generate sustained tension, evoking trajectories that continually defer resolution. The visual component develops in parallel, speculating on and extending this sonic indeterminacy.

Technical Description

The audio was produced through spectral and temporal processing of acoustic instrumental recordings. The visual component emerged from a camera-based feedback loop system, in which multiple cameras interact with live light sources. These sources, generated in real time, constitute the input material of the feedback system, producing dynamic and emergent visual outcomes that align with the work’s exploratory sonic structure.
